The area abounds with good country restaurants, it is possible to get a good four course meal including wine for as little as 11.50 euros at midday. Wine is usually extra in the evenings. In our local bars, coffee and wine are 2.20 euros. A 1/2 ltr. carafe of wine is 4 euros. NOT as quoted in the UK papers!

Golf:
The very fine Chateau des Vigiers offers an excellent 27 hole course, and there are a number of other 9 hole courses within easy driving distance. Charges are very reasonable compared to the U.K. Clubs can be hired.
Walking:
The gently rolling countryside and near empty [by UK standards] country lanes and paths offer ideal rambling conditions, with a beautiful view around each bend.
Dordogne Valley:
The Dordogne River Valley, villages and towns are within easy reach if you feel the inclination to visit the area, but are far enough away to avoid their holiday traffic packed roads.
Water Sports:
Canoes can be hired on the rivers Dordogne, Garonne and Dropt.
Riding:
There are a number of riding establishments in the area, with a particularily good one for children.
Bastide Villages:
There are many beautiful old "bastide" towns and villages, chateaux, and very old churches and other places to visit.
Fishing:
Fishing is available in the many rivers. It is only necessary to obtain a licence from the local fishermans shop.
Wine:
What else! Labarthe is an ideal centre for visiting the Bordeaux, St. Emilion, Bergerac, Buze and of course Duras wine producing areas.
